The Cherry Blossom is a delicate flower which blooms for a very short time. In Japanese Buddhism, this represents the transience of life and the reminder not to get too attached to any outcome or situation because it will all come to pass in time. It is also a significant symbol of power and beauty.
This Cherry Blossom Tree is wood burned onto 2 separate pieces of wood. Each piece is 2' x 2' square (Total size is 4' W x 2' H when next to each other). After wood burning the lines, I also did the shading by wood burning. I then added watercolor paint and watered down acrylic paints. I have sealed it in several coats of a satin wood varnish.
